Feeling I needed experience in interviewing and hiring personnel, I then spent the next three years doing this for Dunhill Personnel Systems and Express Personnel. Then I opened and managed my own personnel agency. During this time I interviewed thousands of applicants and placed hundreds of people in jobs with major Northwest employers. However, I missed working with people and coaching them. So I changed careers and became a Career Development Instructor with a leading business college.

In 1994 I finally finished my first book, Proven Resumes and Confidence Builders. I then went to work as a Job Placement Specialist for the University of Washington, Bothell. My presentations on resume writing often resulted in comments like, "Gee, this is the best presentation I've every seen!" Responses like this came from everyone. In less than 4 years my materials had been sold to over 60 colleges and more than 40 Employment Security and Worker Assistance programs. I gave presentations for Boeing Re-Employment Centers, Employment Security Offices, United Parcel Service - HR Department in Oregon, Northwest Educational Conferences and The City of Seattle. Based on the success ESD offices were experiencing as a result of my materials, I was recommended by a Regional Administrator to the Governor's Board on Employment Issues as a trainer for a state wide program.

Being hailed a Master Trainer by college instructors and career development professionals, I soon became busy enough that I focused all of my time giving presentations. Then in 1996 I began writing the Career-Specific Booklets offered in this site. Having given hundreds of resume writing seminars I learned first-hand what excited and motivated job seekers as they watched my presentation. Armed with this information I wrote Proven Resumes: Strategies That Have Increased Salaries and Changed Lives! and packed it to the brim with all the information I knew that job seekers wanted the most and that I had seen land the most interviews and highest salary offers! All in all, I estimate that about a 1.5 million people have been taught the Proven Resumes System via the pool of instructors and worker assistance programs who use my materials.  Since launching this site in 1997 we've grown to a level of 2 million unique visitors each year -- so I estimate that roughly 5 to 6 million job seekers have learned parts of the Proven Resumes System just by reading the workshops in this site and estimate that about 20,000 customers have ordered online from us -- and much thanks to them for their continued referrals!! Over the last ten years, I also estimate that I've spent well over 12,000 hours working directly with job seekers writing their resumes and hundreds of more hours teaching resume and job search classes.
